Avoid a brand-wide comparison
VEKA offers several flush families, including OMNIA and FlushSash options. Liniar also has distinct flush products, including Resurgence. A quotation that says only VEKA or Liniar leaves the most useful comparison unfinished. Request the system name, opening type and section drawing. Then decide whether you are comparing two standard casements, two flush products or deliberately paying for a different appearance.
Flush on which side?
Ask to see both faces of the sample. Exterior photographs do not tell you how the window meets the interior reveal, what the room-side profile looks like or which joint treatment is included. VEKA describes OMNIA as double flush and double rebated; Liniar describes Resurgence as an 80mm double-rebated flush system. These are design descriptions, not automatic rankings of warmth or weather resistance. The relevant evidence must match the proposed unit.
Decide at the level of the finished window
Compare clear glass area, handle position, opening clearance and your preferred finish. Have the supplier state the glass package and complete-window performance, then separate the installation charge and making-good scope. Ask who fabricates the unit and who is responsible for service visits. A well-documented proposal that fits your opening is more useful than a brand recommendation detached from the actual configuration.
What this means for a real brief
A homeowner is replacing windows beside recently fitted dark doors. Both brands can enter the shortlist, but the first test is the actual finish and visible frame detail against those doors. Only matching proposals should progress to price and performance comparison.
Turn the comparison into a shortlist
Mark each proposal as confirmed, needs clarification or does not meet the brief. Resolve a failed essential requirement before scoring cosmetic preferences. If both options meet the essentials, compare the extra cost of the details you will notice every day.
- Write down the three essentials for your project: appearance, everyday operation and any required performance.
- Request a dimensioned drawing with opening direction, handles and the exact model.
- Keep glass, finish, survey and fitting scope consistent between quotations.
- Ask for written delivery, warranty and aftercare responsibilities.
- Keep allowances separate from confirmed costs; compare VAT on the same basis.
