Separate the system from the supplier
Eurocell describes Logik as a window and door system. Liniar describes multiple window families and explains that independent fabricators make the finished products. That distinction matters when comparing quotations: the system designer, fabricator and installer may be separate organisations. Record all three roles, including who your contract and warranty are with. Two quotations using the same profile name can still differ materially.
Compare a coordinated project
If the job includes windows, French doors and a back door, request a complete finish schedule. Review samples for each product, particularly where different materials or factories are involved. Matching colour descriptions can conceal different texture, gloss or visible profile shape. Decide where a visual match matters most: adjacent products on the same elevation are usually more revealing than separate openings around the house.
Test value using the opening schedule
Ask both suppliers to price the same list of units, including opening lights, handles, glass and sills. Separate optional upgrades so you can see their effect on the total. Have delivery access, unloading, installation, removal and decoration stated explicitly. If one quote is cheaper, first identify whether anything is omitted. Then investigate whether a difference in fabrication, specification or service explains the remaining saving.
What this means for a real brief
A builder needs ten windows and two doors across two plots. One proposal offers a lower unit cost but leaves delivery and unloading unclear. The useful comparison is the agreed delivered project total, with each plot and opening reference listed, rather than the headline window price.
Turn the comparison into a shortlist
Mark each proposal as confirmed, needs clarification or does not meet the brief. Resolve a failed essential requirement before scoring cosmetic preferences. If both options meet the essentials, compare the extra cost of the details you will notice every day.
- Write down the three essentials for your project: appearance, everyday operation and any required performance.
- Request a dimensioned drawing with opening direction, handles and the exact model.
- Keep glass, finish, survey and fitting scope consistent between quotations.
- Ask for written delivery, warranty and aftercare responsibilities.
- Keep allowances separate from confirmed costs; compare VAT on the same basis.
