Use the drawing to ask better questions
Enter an illustrative opening and compare how folding, sliding and hinged layouts occupy it. Use the result to discuss panel divisions, parking positions and furniture. The tool does not apply a manufacturer’s engineering limits, glass weights, exact profiles or final clearances.
Tool illustration range: 1200–6000 mm wide, 1500–3000 mm high. This is not a supplier size range. Profiles, stack depths and clear openings are not to scale.
Read three different things from each layout
| Decision | What it means for your project |
|---|---|
| Closed view | Where do the frame divisions sit from your favourite chair or kitchen position? |
| Everyday route | Which side would you walk through, and where should the active handle be? |
| Fully open position | Where do folded or parked panels sit relative to the patio, table and steps? |
What the illustration cannot confirm
The dimensions accepted by this tool are its illustration range, not a supplier size range. Real profiles, handles, overlap, stops and folded stacks reduce the usable opening. Ask for a system-specific drawing with actual clear passage and operating sequence before choosing the final arrangement. Do not measure from the illustration to prepare an order.

Put the furniture on the same plan.
Try the comparison with chairs pulled out, curtains gathered and outdoor seating in place. If the drawing suggests a useful layout, sketch those objects around it and ask the supplier to add actual stack or track dimensions. This turns a visual preference into a practical conversation.
Bifold panel configurations and traffic doors
Panel count is only half a bifold specification. Stacking direction, opening direction and the daily-access leaf determine whether the arrangement works in your room. Approve an annotated plan and elevation rather than a configuration code alone.
READ THE GUIDESliding door tracks and opening space
Track count describes the paths panels can travel along; it does not tell you which panels actually move. For a useful comparison, request a plan showing fixed panels, moving panels, their parked position and the resulting clear passage.
READ THE GUIDEFrench doors or sliding patio doors?
French doors are worth considering for a familiar hinged daily entrance, particularly where both leaves have room to swing. Sliding doors suit layouts where keeping the room and patio free of a swing arc matters. Compare the actual clear openings before deciding which gives more access.
