Understand your options
| Choice | What to consider |
|---|---|
| White and smooth finishes | Confirm the system’s exact surface and colour description. |
| Coloured foils | Check colour, texture, sheen and applicable care instructions. |
| Woodgrain effect | An appearance choice; confirm the frame material remains uPVC. |
| Two-colour specification | Identify inside, outside and visible opening edges separately. |
Use a material board for the whole project
Put frame samples alongside brick, render, flooring and any aluminium doors. View them in daylight and evening light. Do not make the final decision from a screen image: photography, lighting and display settings all change the apparent colour. Keep the approved finish code with the opening schedule.
Check what shows when the window opens
A closed exterior photo does not reveal rebates, edges, hinges or other components. Ask which surfaces receive the specified finish and which accessories use a different colour. If the inside and outside differ, label the viewing side clearly on the drawing so the schedule cannot be interpreted backwards.
Ask how the choice affects supply
The fabricator’s stocked colours may be different from the system designer’s full palette. Confirm availability, current lead time, price and the applicable coating or foil warranty. For replacements in phases, ask how consistent the visible result can be expected to be and keep the original reference information.

Apply it to your project
A customer chooses anthracite uPVC windows and aluminium patio doors. Side-by-side samples reveal a textured foil next to a smooth coating. They may work well together, but it should be an intentional choice rather than an assumed exact match.
Questions before you choose
Should every colour have its own product page?
The proposed site treats colour as a specification choice, with one useful guide and product-level options. Separate pages would need genuinely distinct products and content.
Does woodgrain mean timber?
No. It describes a finish effect on the specified frame material.
