Aluminium Glazing Costs: What Affects Price?

There is no useful single price for aluminium glazing without size, system, glass and work scope. Compare the cost of a completed opening, then separate optional appearance upgrades from features your project genuinely needs.

The useful answer

There is no useful single price for aluminium glazing without size, system, glass and work scope. Compare the cost of a completed opening, then separate optional appearance upgrades from features your project genuinely needs.

What tends to change the quotation

The product total depends on more than square metres. Panel count, opening mechanism, hardware, finish, glass build-up and fabrication all contribute. A large fixed pane and an operating door of similar area are not equivalent products. Bespoke colours, specialist glass or a different system can also change lead time, so review timing alongside price.

The installed total adds the work around the product: survey, removal, handling, access equipment, fitting, disposal and making good. Structural changes, electrical work and landscaping may be separate contracts. Ask for them to be identified rather than buried in a general allowance. The provisional figures on this site are planning references; a confirmed quotation must relate to your actual specification and site.

A situation you can apply to your own project

ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO

Illustrative arithmetic only: proposal A is £3,000 for the product plus £1,200 of known work and £400 of access costs, totalling £4,600. Proposal B is £4,400 including those same items. B is £200 lower on that matched scope, despite its higher headline. These invented figures demonstrate comparison, not current product prices; keep VAT treatment consistent.

Work through the specification

Size and configuration

Overall dimensions, panel count, track arrangement and opening style influence the specification. Two doors of the same width can have very different constructions.

Finish and glass

Dual colours, special finishes, privacy glass and performance upgrades may change the price. Record these choices before comparing quotations.

Delivery and installation

Our nationwide delivery is free. Installation is quoted separately so you can compare supply-only and fitted options clearly.

Using this site’s guide prices

Our current guide figures use displayed Glass Openings prices plus 10%, rounded to the nearest £5. They are not a claim of identical products or a confirmed order price. Custom designs require a quote.

Your checklist before the next conversation

  • Ask for an itemised total
  • Match VAT treatment
  • Separate optional upgrades
  • List exclusions explicitly
  • Replace allowances with confirmed prices before committing
