and handover
Know how to operate your glazing, keep the right documents and report a problem clearly. Good handover makes future support easier.

Start with a complete handover
Ask the installer to demonstrate every opening from closed and locked to normal use and back again. Include traffic leaves, second leaves, restrictors and powered controls where supplied. Try them yourself while support is present. Check that keys, care instructions, glass details and warranty documents correspond to the actual units installed.
Keep a product record
| Decision | What it means for your project |
|---|---|
| Identification | Order number, opening references, model, fabricator and installer. |
| Approved design | Final drawings, glass specification, finish and hardware. |
| Care | Manufacturer instructions and any required maintenance record. |
| Support | First contact, written terms, registration details and unresolved snags. |
A sensible care routine
Follow the exact product instructions for cleaning methods and intervals. Keep accessible tracks and drainage areas free of loose debris using approved methods, and avoid pushing dirt into drainage outlets. Use only suitable cleaners and lubricants for the frame, glass and hardware; a household solvent or abrasive can be inappropriate for a coating or seal. Arrange professional access for roof glazing and high-level windows where needed.

Report what changed, rather than guessing the cause.
Tell the support contact which opening is affected, what happens and when it began. A short video of normal operation, photographs and your opening reference are more useful than an uncertain diagnosis. Do not force stiff hardware or dismantle a unit to investigate.
If you notice a problem
| Decision | What it means for your project |
|---|---|
| Difficult operation | Stop forcing the leaf. Record the opening, conditions and a safe demonstration for the installer. |
| Water or moisture | Photograph the location and note the weather; distinguish visible surface moisture from apparent moisture between panes. |
| Glass damage | Keep people away from the affected area and contact the responsible specialist promptly. |
| Finish marks | Record photographs and what products or works contacted the surface before trying a treatment. |
Close out snags clearly
Keep one dated list with an opening reference, description, photograph, responsible contact and agreed next step for each item. Record when work is completed and check operation again. Keep the correspondence with the order file. Product and installation issues may have different routes, so use the written terms and agreed first contact rather than assuming the manufacturer handles every site visit.
